1550 Lawrence Ave West – Exhaust Fan Doghouse

Toronto, Ontario

At 1550 Lawrence Ave West, our team successfully completed the exhaust fan doghouse project with precision and attention to detail. From excavation to waterproofing, metal flashing installation, and water testing, each step was carried out to ensure durability and protection against moisture, restoring the site to its original condition.

The construction work on the exhaust fan doghouse was completed with the following detailed steps:

Excavation of Perimeter: Our team excavated the perimeter of the mechanical doghouse down to the roof slab, reaching a depth of approximately 3 inches. This process involved careful excavation to avoid damaging adjacent structures while exposing the existing waterproofing layer.

Waterproofing Membrane Replacement: After excavation, we removed the old waterproofing membrane, which had become ineffective. We then installed a new, high-performance waterproofing membrane to create a reliable barrier against moisture, ensuring the doghouse remains watertight.

Installation of Metal Flashing: New metal flashing was supplied and installed at the base of the doghouse wall perimeter. This flashing is critical for directing water away from the walls and preventing water infiltration, enhancing the overall waterproofing system.

Water Testing: After completing the waterproofing installation, we conducted thorough water testing to ensure that the new system was functioning correctly. This step confirmed that there were no leaks and that the waterproofing measures were effective.

Backfilling: Following successful water testing, we backfilled the excavated area with the existing overburden. This was done carefully to restore the site to its original condition while ensuring proper compaction for stability.

Surface Reinstatement: Finally, we reinstated the surface to match the existing conditions, maintaining the integrity of the surrounding landscape. This included grading to ensure proper drainage and aesthetic alignment with the surrounding area.
